Joe Lalonde

Hello. My name is Joe Lalonde. Father Cristian asked me to write one of these, so here it is!

I was born and raised in Kelvington, SK. My Father was a school teacher and my Mother was a freelance writer/homemaker. We lived on an acreage just outside of town. I have one older sister. We attended (mostly) Evangelical churches, and we went every week, no matter what!

After High School I moved to Saskatoon and worked various jobs for a couple of years. Then, when I was 20, I enrolled at Briercrest Bible College in Caronport, SK. I learned a lot, but didn’t graduate with anything. The most impactful moment of my time there was in a certain Theology course called “Doctrine of Christ”, wherein the professor shared his personal struggles with believing in the divinity of Christ, and why he struggled to believe it. This wasn’t something I was expecting to hear at a Bible College and it threw me for a real loop, leading me to question it too, and similar topics. A year or two later I no longer considered myself a Christian.

Over the next decade or so, I lived in Edmonton for a while, and then, up until recently, Moose Jaw, where I worked for the Humane Society. Around 2020, through God’s providence, grace and mercy, I found my way back to Jesus Christ, but this time, to His true, original Church! Thank you to Fr. Cristian for the hundreds of hours of instruction and patience. I was baptized in April, 2024.

In 2024, here at St. George, I met my wonderful wife, Neveen, and her incredible children, Steven and Karen, who I love dearly as my own. I moved to Regina soon after, and Neveen and I were married just this past February. God is good!
